Żminijietna - Voice of the Left appealed to the Government to ensure
that the regeneration of White Rocks would not deprive the public of open
spaces.
“Unfortunately the Government is opting for yet another exclusive development project consisting of luxury dwellings and villas, when over a third of Malta's properties are vacant, and when universally accessible open spaces are lacking. “Whilst we agree that it is high time that the White Rocks area is
regenerated, we appeal to the Government not to approve of development projects
which will result in a privatised area which denies public access. Besides,
Government should ensure that the development project makes use of sustainable
sources of energy. Any form of development on the natural garigue should be
refused. Agricultural land and the natural environment should be protected,
rather than commodified.”
